ABOUT: The debut LP from trio RedGreenBlue, The End and the Beginning offers a mesmeric, minimalist extension of Chicago’s groove-based improvised music tradition. The group consists of three of the city’s most noted players Paul Giallorenzo (synthesizer, pump organ, electronics), Charlie Kirchen (bass), Ryan Packard (drums, electronics). This recording also includes contributions from special guest, the ever-imaginative Ben LaMar Gay on cornet and electronics.  Over the course of two introverted, side-long pieces, they patiently craft hypnotic—yet still dynamic—sonic spaces from languid pulsation, careful shifts in colour,  and occasional bursts of virtuosic urgency.
