Vancouver-based keyboardist and composer Noah Franche-Nolan has emerged as a vibrant and imaginative force within Canada’s jazz and improvised music scene. A JUNO-nominated artist, Franche-Nolan has collaborated with Dutch violinist Oene Van Geel, Brooklyn drummer Tima Volozh, and acclaimed Canadian musicians including Mili Hong, Meredith Bates, Aline Homzy, Lina Allemano, Arvind Ramdas, and Parmela Attariwala. He is also an active member of ensembles such as Arid Landscapes and Raagaverse.

His album, Rose-Anna highlights one of his ongoing projects, the Noah Franche-Nolan Trio, and stands as a testament to his musical vision and artistry. Performing on piano—and organ on two tracks—Franche-Nolan is joined by acclaimed musicians Jodi Proznick (bass) and Nicholas Bracewell (drums). Together, they navigate a diverse sonic landscape: from groove-driven, agile pieces to tender miniatures, from secular hymns to free-form explorations.

The album’s title pays tribute to Franche-Nolan’s Acadian great-grandmother, Rose-Anna Chassée, a church organist from Grand Falls, New Brunswick. Her legacy serves as a touchstone for the album’s central themes of spirituality, heritage, family, and home. Rose-Anna radiates warmth and sincerity, capturing both the versatility and cohesion of a remarkable emerging artist.
