Named by CBC as one of “30 hot Canadian classical musicians under 30″cellist and composer India Gailey is among Canada’s most acclaimed and adventurous musicians. Their award-winning 2022 disc, to you through (Redshift Records) was praised by the Wire as a ” a palpably emotional set” and featured an ethereal programme of various composers spanning Yaz Lancaster to Philip Glass and even Gailey’s own work. Their follow-up album, Problematicatakes the ultra-coherent eclecticism of its predecessor one step further, offering a set of commissioned works that were conceived through varying degrees of collaboration with Gailey. The result is a wondrous genre-melting release featuring solo works for cello, electronics and voice, by celebrated artists Sarah Rossy, Nicole Lizée, Julia Mermelstein, Joseph Glaser, Andrew Noseworthy, Fjóla Evans and Thanya Iyer presented both as a stereo release (CD/DL) and in Dolby Atmos surround.
