Critically acclaimed pianist Cheryl Duvall of the Thin Edge New Music Collective presents a fascinating long-form excursion from Montréal composer Patrick Giguère. The disc further demonstrates her aptitude with contemplative work, bringing warmth and insight to Giguère’s first large-scale piece for the instrument (despite it being his primary one.) Much of Intimes Exubérances was derived from Giguère’s own improvisations, imparting a hauntingly tactile, and almost confessional tenor to the work.
